Drum Corps International! Something I have always wanted to see. Me being the obsessive band freak I am, I find DCI amazing. I wouldn't mind going to see it and watch my fellow trumpet and mellophone players.
Marching Instruments are much different from sitting bands like orchestras or concert bands, there are contras or sousaphones that cover tuba parts, and there are mellophones that emulate the sound of a french horn.
DCI marching can be much much different from high school bands. Sometimes music can be so fast that a player might be running in step, whilst playing music. Marching technique may stay the same, but may be more difficult.
DCI is a very popular thing in the music world. High school marching bands are encouraged to attend a DCI show, that includes multiple different bands, like Jersey Surf, Carolina Crown, etc.
Some shows can be absolutely mind blowing and creative that you will want an encore performance every time. As you can see in the picture above, the bands are very very large and have a nice general and visual effect on field. Formation is key when it comes to marching band, especially DCI.
If you're interested in learning an instrument, going to a DCI show would be a great example of some professional music. Going to a DCI show is also a great example for future marchers too!
Thank you so much for reading this blog post, feel free to comment what you think about DCI!!! Thanks so much again!
